yes. there is a difference from mane smudging and painting. painting is when you redo the entire thing, using base colours from the old mane. and smudging is when you smudge more onto the mane to make it look the way you want to.

Hmm.. this is a really good tutorial, althoguh me being a horse owner and lover have to give some crits...
